New World Ranking - Women's freestyle

MED GAMES LIFT NINE INTO FILA RANKINGS FOR WOMEN FREESTYLE


CORSIER-SUR-VEVEY, Switzerland (July 8) – The Mediterranean Games gave five of the six winners and a seven other medalists a boost in the FILA World Rankings for June in women’s freestyle.

With a flurry of action at the end of May, including the Austrian Ladies Open on June 1, the Mediterrean Games in Mersin, Turkey became the focus of attention for the rankings in June.

Previously unranked Silvia FELICE (ITA) at 48kg, Melanie LeSAFFRE (FRA) at 51kg and Hafize SAHIN (TUR) at 59kg all broke into the top 10 with wins in Mersin, coupled with medal-winning performances at the Golden Grand Prix in Sassari, Italy, and the Grand Prix of Germany in Dormagen.

A fourth winner in Mersin Yasemin ADAR (TUR), a runner-up at the Dan Kolov tourney in February, joins at No.13 at 72kg.

European silver medalist Marie PREVOLARAKI (GRE), meanwhile, could only move up two positions from No. 13 against a very strong top 10 at 55kg, and Elif Jale YESILIRMAK (TUR) could not move at all from her No.11 position at 63kg.

The wrestlers are listed by name, country code, their most recent or most notable result this year and their position in the previous rankings.
